Anna Hofer studied clinical social work and is currently a research associate in the DigiBEssst project – Digital Counseling for Eating Disorders.
Eva Wunderer is a graduate psychologist and systemic couple and family therapist (DGSF). Professor for psychological aspects of social work at the Landshut University of Applied Sciences. The focus is on the areas of eating disorders, clinical social work, clinical psychology and systemic therapy; numerous research projects and publications. Psychotherapeutically specialized in the field of systemic work with children and adolescents, especially eating disorders.

Stopping the “Revolving Door”: A Unique Rehabilitation House for Young Adults with Severe
Eating Disorders.
Professor and Dean of the School of Social Work at the Faculty of Social and Health Sciences, University of Haifa. Founder and Director of the Eating Disorders Institution; Psychiatric Unit of Rambam, Health Care Campus, Haifa. She also designed and established an innovative rehabilitation home for women with severe eating disorders (“Zeida Laderech“), for which she received a prestigious national Mental Health Award. She has also served as an adviser to the Israeli Parliament and was instrumental in changing treatment policies for eating disorders (ED). She is known both locally and internationally as an expert in the field of ED.
Sabrina Mörkl
The Microbiome / Gut-Brain-Axis in Eating Disorders
Specialist in psychiatry and psychotherapeutic medicine, scientist, lecturer at the Medical University of Graz (MUG). Co-opted board member of the Austrian Society for Nutrition (ÖGE). Her specialty is “Nutritional Psychiatry”, which deals with the prevention and treatment of mental illnesses with nutrition.

Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Magna Graecia (UOC) in Catanzaro (Italy) and Medical Director at the UOC for Psychiatry. Director of the Outpatient Clinic for Clinical Research and Treatment of Eating Disorders in Catanzaro and member of national (SIP, SIPA, SOPSI, SIO) and international (AED) scientific societies. Main activity clinical and scientific work in the field of eating disorders, in particular Binge Eating Disorder.

Risk factors that predict future onset of each eating disorder: Implications for more effective prevention programs
Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Stanford University (USA). His research focuses on identifying risk factors that predict the onset of eating disorders, obesity, substance abuse, and depression. He developed a dissonance-based eating disorder prevention program, the Body Project, that has been implemented in 140 countries. Lori Irving Awardee for Excellence in Eating Disorder Prevention and Awareness from the National Eating Disorder Association and Christina Barz Awardee from the World Psychiatric Association.

What role does psychological and physical comorbidity play in the treatment of eating disorders?
Prof Dr. med. Martina de Zwaan is the Director of the Clinic for Psychosomatics and Psychotherapy at the Hannover Medical School. She received her doctorate in allied health from the University of Vienna in 1986 and completed further training in psychiatry and neurology as well as in cognitive and behavioural therapy in Vienna. She opened her career as a senior physician at the Psychosomatic Hospital in Bad Bramstedt and then obtained the venia docendi for psychiatry at the University of Vienna in 1995 on the subject of binge-eating disorder. She then moved to the Psychiatric University Hospital in Vienna as a senior physician until 2003 and in between held a visiting professorship at the Division of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, Department of Neuroscience, UND School of Medicine and Health Sciences in Fargo (North Dakota). Furthermore, she was head of the Psychosomatic and Psychotherapeutic Department at the Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg from 2003 to 2011. Her scientific focus is on eating disorders and obesity, psychological aspects of bariatric surgery, psychosomatics in transplant medicine and the development and validation of Patient Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs).
Dr Helga Simchen
Eating disorders in AD(H)S
Dr. Helga Simchen is a paediatrician specialising in neurology and psychiatry in children and adolescents, behavioural therapist, depth psychological psychotherapy and family therapy. She first worked as a senior physician in a paediatric clinic, then moved to the Magdeburg Medical Academy as a senior physician with a teaching assignment in neurology and psychiatry in children and adolescents as well as rehabilitation education. The main focus of her scientific work was hyperkinetic syndrome and dyslexia, in which she worked closely with the Leibnitz Institute, formerly the Brain Research Institute. In 1995 she opened her practice in Mainz with a focus on AD(H)S, learning and behavioural disorders. She has written 7 books on AD(H)S and its comorbidities based on her experience with over 1000 patients in her practice.
Ricardo Dalle Grave M. D.
Cognitive behavioural therapy for adolescents with eating disorders: An effective alternative to family-based treatment
As Director of the Department of Eating and Weight Disorders at Villa Garda Hospital in Verona, Italy, Ricardo has developed, with Christopher G. Fairburn of Oxford University, a proprietary treatment process for inpatients with eating disorders. It includes a programme adapted for adolescents, and his main research focus is CBT-E in the treatment of adolescents and adults with eating disorders who are severely underweight. His projects include prevention work for eating disorders and obesity. He is regularly invited to lead public workshops and seminars for clinical psychologists, psychiatrists, endocrinologists, surgeons, nutritionists and other health professionals on the nature and treatment of obesity and eating disorders both in Italy and around the world. Dr Dalle Grave is a member of the CBT-E training group and has been recognised by Expertscape as an expert in Anorexia Nervosa. He is also editor of the CBT-E website and director of the Italian Advanced Training Course for the Treatment and Prevention of Eating Disorders and Obesity, which trains clinicians in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Eating Disorders and Obesity. He also provides Expterten-CBT-E supervision for clinical services in Europe, the USA, Australia and the Middle East. He is a Fellow of the Academy of Eating Disorders and a member of the editorial boards of all eating disorders journals.
Carine El Khazen
Eating disorders in the Middle East and Middle Eastern populations
Carine el Khazen is a clinical psychologist. She holds a Master’s degree in clinical and psychopathological psychology (USJ), a postgraduate degree (DESS) in clinical and psychopathological psychology (Sorbonne University) and a diploma in profound studies (DEA) in clinical psychopathology (Jussieu University). Carine has worked as a clinical psychologist in Dubai, United Arab Emirates since 2004. She has been working at the American Center for Psychiatry and Neurology (ACPN) since 2011. As a specialist in eating and weight disorders, she has established and directs the only specialised multidisciplinary outpatient programme for eating and weight disorders in the region. Carine is a CBT-E therapist, trainer and supervisor. The programme is a CBT-E centre of excellence. Together with Dr Riccardo Dalle Grave, she co-authored the first manual for parents of adolescents treated with CBT-E: “Cognitive Behaviour Therapy For Eating Disorders in Young People”, a guide for parents, published by Routledge Press. Carine is also the clinical lead for the centre’s psychological services. Carine is a member of the Academy of Eating Disorders (AED) and Vice Chair of the Middle East Eating Disorders Association (MEEDA), a non-governmental organisation representing AED in the Middle East. She oversees and directs all day-to-day activities of the association, which is dedicated to raising awareness, supporting sufferers and educating the general public and professionals on eating and weight disorders.

Transdiagnostic risk factors and treatment approaches for eating disorders
Matthew Flinders Distinguished Professor Tracey Wade completed a Master of Clinical Psychology at the Australian National University (1992), and a PhD at Flinders University (1998). Since 2000 she has worked in the School of Psychology at Flinders University. She is currently an Associate Editor for the International Journal of Eating Disorders. In 2015 she was elected a Fellow of the Academy of the Social Sciences in Australia, in 2016 she was made an Inaugural Honorary Fellow of the Australian Association for Cognitive and Behaviour Therapy, and in 2019 she was the recipient of the Australia and New Zealand Academy of Eating Disorders Distinguished Achievement Award, and appointed a Fellow of the Australian Psychological Society. She is the director of the Flinders University Services for Eating Disorders and conducts research across a range of clinical settings and schools, with over 200 peer-reviewed publications. She is currently director of the Órama Research Institute.
Psychosocial questions about obesity surgery: what do we know or think we know?
Univ. Prof. Dr. med. Stephan Herpertz is Director of the Clinic for Psychosomatic Medicine and Psychotherapy at the LWL University Hospital in Bochum and President of the German Society for Eating Disorders (DGESS). His research focusses on obesity, eating disorders and psychodiabetology.
Integrative Cognitive-Affective Therapy: Basic Behavioral Science to Randomized Controlled Trials
Stephen Wonderlich, Ph.D., is the Chester Fritz Distinguished Professor, University of North Dakota School of Medicine & Health Sciences. He serves as Vice President and Chief of Behavioral Health Research at Sanford Health. He also serves as Co-Director for the Sanford Eating Disorder and Weight Management Center and also the Sanford Center for Biobehavioral Research.
He has published widely in the literature. He currently sits on the Editorial Board for several professional journals, is a Past-President of the Academy for Eating Disorders, and was a member of the Eating Disorder Workgroup for DSM-5. He serves, or has served, on the Board of Directors for several eating disorder organizations, including the Eating Disorder Research Society, Academy for Eating Disorders, Eating Disorder Coalition, and the National Eating Disorder Association.
“Social cure” and “social curse”: group processes in institutions for people with eating disorders – blessing or curse?
Eva Wunderer, Prof. Dr. phil., is a graduate psychologist and systemic couple and family therapist. She studied and did her doctorate at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich. In 2009 she was appointed professor for psychological aspects of social work at the Landshut University of Applied Sciences. She specialices in (systemic) work with children and adolescents, especially in the area of eating disorders.
Eating disorders, pregnancy and motherhood
Barbara Mangweth-Matzek (Prof. Dr. MMaga) has been working at the Medical University of Innsbruck, Department for Psychiatry, Psychotherapy and Psychosomatics since 1994. As a Psychologist and Psychotherapist, her focus is on eating disorders, which she also researches scientifically from a wide variety of aspects. She currently works at the psychosomatic outpatient clinic and works in the eating disorder clinic, the fertility clinic (in the context of disturbed eating behavior) and in the psychological evaluation and care of bariatric patients.
